Poodles on Vacation
We just returned from a 2500+ mile, two week trip to Florida for the Thanksgiving holiday. Creole and Gumbo had adventures along the way. Actually, Creole has been to Florida and back by car but this was Gumbo’s first trip more than about 50 miles.
We folded up the seats in the back of the truck and piled pillows and blankets on the floor and piled the two poodles in and took off. They did beautifully. There was no motion sickness, backseat territorial disputes (I had those with my siblings…fun) or terrible restlessness. We made a point to get them out and walk them for 1/2 hour or so about every 4 hours and they were just fine. They did not eat much while we were traveling, but other dogs I have had didn’t eat while traveling either.
Once in a while one of them would stick their head up front between the front seats and look at us as if to ask “are we there yet?”
On the way home, Creole and Gumbo got to meet their cousin Bingo the Parti Poodle. We stopped by my sister’s house in Louisiana and let them run while we had dinner.
Overall it was a great trip for us and the poodles.

Was wondering how these puppers did in the car. The farthest Killee has gone is to Ms Suzette’s for play day or grooming [about 22 minutes]. we were planning on taking him to Missouri for Christmas — sounds like he will do okay in the car. The life and times of our poodle babies…aren’t they just the best!?!
